To distinguish 304 and 201 stainless steel sheets, there are several ways to do it:
Observe the appearance: 304 stainless steel usually has a higher gloss and surface flatness, while the surface of 201 stainless steel is relatively dark and has a lower gloss. The stainless steel sheets of the two materials can be compared together to observe the difference in their appearance.
Use magnetic test: 201 stainless steel has a certain degree of magnetism, while 304 stainless steel is usually non-magnetic. It can be attracted by a magnet. If it is attracted, it is 201 stainless steel. If it is not attracted, it may be 304 stainless steel, but this method is not very accurate, because sometimes 304 stainless steel will also have a slight magnetism.
Chemical composition detection: The chemical analysis instrument analyzes the composition of stainless steel to accurately determine whether it is 304 or 201 stainless steel. This method requires professional equipment and knowledge, and it is difficult for ordinary people to do it by themselves.
Use reagent detection: Nitric acid can be used for reagent detection. Drop a small amount of nitric acid on the surface of stainless steel. If it is 201 stainless steel, dark orange rust spots will be produced; if it is 304 stainless steel, there will be no obvious changes. However, this method requires caution because nitric acid is a highly corrosive chemical.
